Beautifully played. But how was it recorded without any street noise. I don’t see a microphone anywhere. Was he miming to a recording that he made in a studio or did he overdub it afterwards

Bach is some of the …
Bach is some of the hardest music to play on the guitar. Even Bach pieces that look ‘easy’ are very challenging. Even Bach’s lute suites we’re written for the keyboard. He wasn’t writing them with the guitar in mind. Therefore, when one plays in on the guitar, one finds himself cornered into awkward fingerings by chord voicings that were never meant to be played on the guitar. Now, when one takes a piece that SOUNDS very difficult, such as this one, it becomes almost impossible.

gavinmoose,
Some …
gavinmoose,
Some guitarists wish to change the tonal quality of the piece because they believe that it’s more suited to another key. The problem with simply transposing is that the left-hand approach may become awkward or near-impossible. The solution is the capotasto. The key changes, but the left-hand approach remains the same.

ScreamingBloodyGore …
ScreamingBloodyGore,
I played metal years ago. Much respect for technique. But followed my passion into classical, and so can’t rightly comment on advanced technical difficulties inherent in metal; never got that far. Agree with you on Bach. Greatest composer, and the bane of my existence. Very challenging, and humbling.
