Gitarre für Anfänger – Knocking on Heavens… Guitar Lesson

is taking music theroy classes with a private teacher a good idea for guitar?

i have herd mix reviews about music theory. i hear that it really helps you understand guitar and i hear that you can just learn by ear. i can listen to songs and play it by ear but not all songs. but the problem is that i don't know how i will get better just by ear. should i take the class or just by ear

Take the class. Music theory is very helpful for any instrument you're trying to learn.

Acoustic vs. Classical Guitar classes?

I already know the differences between the acoustic and the classical guitar.

The music school I attend offers both acoustic and classical guitar classes and I would like to know the difference between the type of music I'd learn in either classes. If I want to eventually play music like

which class should I take?

Paulie, I have been a professional musician for over 30 years, so you would likely expect me to state "classical" when in fact, you would greatly benefit from both. Classical lessons will indoctrinate you to the flatter fretboard and manipulating the nylon G, B, E strings, and you can easily adapt that knowledge to the more contemporary lessons. Good luck.

how do i riff or learn to riff on the guitar without going to guitar classes?

Pick up a basic guitar chord book and learn a few chords. A half dozen or so will do. Then find someone with a similar interest in music and start playing together.

You will both pick up new things from each other and improve with practice.

Invite other musicians and start having some casual jam sessions. Every once in a while you will meet one who is a bit more advanced than you. From this musician, you will learn even more, and at a faster rate.

Soon you'll have a pretty good sized repretoire and be playing music others can enjoy.

Would a W for dropping a guitar class affect me?

I am in my third semester of community college right now. I dropped a guitar class with a "W" in my first semester. It's not like an academic class. Do you think it would affect me less or more? Or does it even affect me at all? It was a beginning guitar class.
I am thinking about dropping an English class.

I don't recommend dropping the English class. that is one of the important ones. the only thing that sucks about dropping a "non-important" class, which is usually only worth 1 credit hour, is a big deal. most likely it's not a deal at all. maybe a bit of wasted money on your part!

As far as dropping the english class, I don't recommend it! That will actually affect you! you will have to take that class anyways, and you will most likely have to pay for it as well. Even if you aren't doing that well in it, something is better than nothing, especially if you have to pay for it... AGAIN!

I have been there and done that! Failed classes, and had to pay to retake them. SUCKS!

I hope this helps! Good Luck
